Welcome to the Dietary Supplement Ingredient Database (DSID) home page!

The Dietary Supplement Ingredient Database (DSID) provides estimated levels of ingredients in dietary supplement products sold in the U.S. The DSID is intended primarily for research applications. DSID has been developed by the Nutrient Data Laboratory within the Agricultural Research Service, in collaboration with the Office of Dietary Supplements at NIH and other federal agencies.

The second release of the DSID provides access to analytically derived estimates of ingredients in children's multivitamin/minerals (MVMs). These statistical estimates were determined through chemical analysis of representative children's MVM products. The DSID 2.0 release includes adult MVM data, which replace the DSID 1.0 data. The adult MVM data previously released in DSID 1.0 have been updated for selected ingredients, including revised vitamin B-6 and thiamin estimates.

For all MVM studies, analytical data have been evaluated by ingredient level across products rather than for individual products. Mean percent differences between analytical and labeled amounts have been determined for each of the vitamins and minerals analyzed. Statistical regression analyses have been used to provide predicted amounts compared to labeled levels. These data are appropriate for using in population studies of nutrient intake, rather than for assessing individual products.
