Cancer Control Publications (CC Publications)

Users can enter keyword searches or build their own search using cancer site and Program coding. You may combine a keyword search with the built query search.

How to Search by Keyword

You can search for the MeSH keywords usually found in PubMed. If you would like to make your search more specific, enter additional keywords or phrases. Results will be limited to citations that share the keywords entered.

How to Search by Cancer Site

If you would like to search by cancer site, click on the appropriate cancers and click on the search tab. Checking multiple sites will yield citations that include any of the sites selected.

How to Search by Program

The publications are also grouped by program. The Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences is organized in Programs. Below is more information about these areas. Please note: If you leave this section blank, your search under keywords and/or other basic options will yield publications for all of DCCPS. Checking multiple programs will yield citations that include any of the programs selected.

Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS)

The Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences generates new knowledge and seeks to ensure that the products of cancer control research are effectively applied in all segments of the population. Through innovative research initiatives, leadership, and the synthesis of knowledge and its dissemination, we are building this Program to be the nation's model for cancer control science.

Applied Research Program (ARP)

The mission of the Applied Research Program is to understand how and why cancer care and control activities in the United States influence patterns of care and trends in cancer incidence, morbidity, mortality, and survival. Pursuit of this mission is possible through ARP's support of methodologic research to improve survey data collection and evaluation of existing data collected through grants, contracts, NCI Divisions, and other agencies. These data are used to evaluate patterns and trends in cancer-associated health behaviors and risk factors, health care services, economics, and outcomes, including patient-reported outcomes.

Behavioral Research Program (BRP)

The Behavioral Research Program initiates, supports, and evaluates a comprehensive program of behavioral research ranging from basic behavioral research to research on the development, testing, and dissemination of disease prevention and health promotion interventions in areas such as tobacco use, screening, dietary behavior, and sun protection.

Epidemiology and Genetics Research Program (EGRP)

The Epidemiology and Genetics Research Program manages a comprehensive program of grant-supported, population-based research to increase our understanding of cancer etiology and prevention. It is the largest funder of etiologic cancer epidemiology grants nationally and worldwide and supports scientists throughout the United States and the international community.

EGRP's mission is to increase our understanding of the determinants of cancer and cancer-related outcomes in human populations. This mission includes using an epidemiologic approach to facilitate movement of discoveries in the basic sciences and improved technologies to studies in human populations, discoveries about the determinants of cancer and cancer-related health outcomes after cancer into clinical and public health practice, and the movement of scientific knowledge from clinical and public health to human studies and basic biology.

Surveillance Research Program (SRP)

The Surveillance Research Program directs the collection and analysis of pertinent data in order to answer key questions about cancer incidence, morbidity, mortality, and cancer-related health status in diverse regions and populations in the United States. As part of its mission, SRP manages the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program, an integrated, comprehensive, multiple population-based reporting system. (See the Seer Bibliography link under Additional Bibliographies in the sidebar.)

SRP also develops statistical methodologies for analyzing trends and for evaluating the impact of cancer control interventions as well as geographic, social, behavioral, genetic, and health care delivery factors on the cancer burden.

Office of Cancer Survivorship (OCS)

The mission of the Office of Cancer Survivorship is to enhance the quality and length of survival of all persons diagnosed with cancer and to minimize or stabilize adverse effects experienced during cancer survivorship. OCS conducts and supports research that both examines and addresses the long- and short-term physical, psychological, social, and economic effects of cancer and its treatment among pediatric and adult survivors of cancer and their families.
