Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) Working Group

Purpose: The DCIS Work Group grew out of ICSN's interest in assessing the impact of screening on populations, in particular, screening's adverse impact. DCIS diagnoses are made at a higher rate in populations that are regularly screened and, therefore, its impact on morbidity could be significant. This working group is evaluating variation in DCIS incidence and management across organized screening programs that are members of the ICSN.

Members: Antonio Ponti and Steve Taplin (Co-Chairs), Elsebeth Lynge, Karla Kerlikowske, Ted James

Activities: The group has two manuscripts in process: one focused on the variation the incidence of DCIS among screened women led by Elsebeth Lynge, and the other upon variation in evaluation and treatment led by Antonio Ponti. Data from 15 settings in 12 countries are being analyzed.
