TOXMAP Tour - Welcome

Thank you for your interest in TOXMAP®, a web site from the National Library of Medicine® (NLM) that uses maps of the United States to show the amount and location of toxic chemicals released on-site into the environment, as well as the location of hazardous waste sites. Primary data is derived from the EPA's Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) and Superfund Program. The TRI provides information on the releases of toxic chemicals into the environment as reported annually by industrial facilities around the United States. The Superfund Program, operated under the legislative authority of CERCLA and SARA, funds and carries out EPA solid waste emergency and long-term removal and remedial activities. Demographic layers, such as US Census popluation data, income data, and health data (cancer and disease mortality) are also available.

This tour walks you step-by-step through TOXMAP's main features and is designed to take about 20 minutes. Please follow links & instructions on the left side of this page.

We encourage you to share your feedback with the TOXMAP team. Use the email link below or refer to the contact information at the bottom of any TOXMAP page.
