Stroke and American Indians/Alaska Natives

  • In general, American Indians/Alaska Native adults are 2.4 times more likely to have a stroke than their White adult counterparts.
  • American Indian/Alaska Native adults are more likely to be obese than White adults and they are more likely to have high blood pressure, as compared to White adults.
