The goal of Team Nutrition is to guide and assist schools to create and maintain a coordinated, comprehensive school health program that integrates school child nutrition programs with classroom, the community and the entire school environment. This team nutrition grant will implement the model of Changing the Scene at the State level by forming a state level coalition of key decision makers. The state coalition will develop a "model" nutrition policy, with guidance and recommendations to implement the nutrition policy statewide. Eight pilot schools will receive mini-grants to implement a "model" nutrition policy that incorporates the six components of a healthy school environment as recommended in Changing the Scene. Evaluations will be conducted to determine the nutritional and fiscal impact of implementing a "model" nutrition policy to create a healthy school environment.
