Meeting Summary2009 BRN Symposium The 2009 BRN Symposium, held in Bethesda, Maryland, on March 16-18, 2009, attracted more than 350 attendees and featured more than 20 leading experts on the subject of biospecimen science, including NCI Deputy Director Anna Barker, Ph.D.; FDA's Dr. Elizabeth Hammond; Dr. David B. Agus of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Clifton Leaf, author and former executive editor of Fortune Magazine. The symposium offered attendees the opportunity to engage in interactive discussions, presentations, and workshops around biospecimen quality and recent advances in biospecimen science. Of particular interest at this year's BRN Symposium and central to ensuring the availability of high-quality human biospecimens for cancer research are Dr. Carolyn Compton's closing remarks on the development of a national, standardized human biospecimens resource dubbed the Cancer Human Biobank (caHUB).
