Artists and the Avant-Garde Theater in Paris, 1887-1900

Overview: The exhibition presented 65 prints from theater programs published in Paris during the late 1880s and 1890s, together with 2 watercolors, a drawing, and a scrapbook concerning the Théâtre Libre. The works were drawn from the collection of Martin and Liane W. Atlas. Edvard Munch, Paul Signac, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Edouard Vuillard were among the artists whose works were represented.

The exhibition was organized by the National Gallery of Art. Patricia Eckert Boyer was guest curator, in collaboration with Ruth Fine, curator of modern prints and drawings at the National Gallery of Art.
