May 17–August 23, 2009

Overview: 31 paintings by 18th-century Spanish still life painter Luis Meléndez were presented in this exhibition. Included was Still Life with Figs and Bread from the collection of the National Gallery together with loans from public and private collections in Europe and the United States. A self-portrait of the artist on loan from the Musée du Louvre was included. Also on view were 9 examples of 18th-century kitchenware similar to items used by the artist as studio props also were on view.
