Reducing Stress Eating and Food Craving

What is the purpose of the study?
To see how a research drug, pexacerfont, affects food craving.

Who can participate in the study?
This study is accepting men and women who:

  • Are 21 to 65 years of age
  • Frequently struggle to diet
  • Are in generally good health

What will participants be asked to do?
The study lasts up to 40 days and requires 7 study visits lasting between 2 and 3 hours each

Participants will:

  • Take the study medication or a placebo for 4 weeks; placebo looks like the study medication but contains no active ingredients
  • Record daily video of themselves taking the study medication
  • Complete questionnaires
  • Give saliva, blood and urine samples

Where is the study taking place?
The NIDA Intramural Research Program is located on the Johns Hopkins Bayview campus in east Baltimore.

Will there be any cost to participate?
There is no cost for participation.

Will I receive payment of some kind?
All study participants will receive money for their participation in this study.
