Training, TA, and Conference/Event Speaking

Can you explain the differences between training, technical assistance (TA), and conference/event speaking?

Training may include presentations on FASD, workshops, and/or interactive group discussions. Select here for the Training Request Form.

Technical assistance (TA) is any assistance provided to enhance the knowledge, abilities, and program and system development of families, agencies, communities, States, and others. It may take the form of telephone, e-mail, and/or in person work to address a specific issue. Select here for the Technical Assistance Request Form.

A Conference/Event Speaker is a representative of the FASD Center for Excellence or SAMHSA may be available to speak on FASD at your upcoming conference/event. Select here for the Conference/Event Speaker Request Form.

Need assistance with a submission?

The Center will be happy to help and answer any questions you have. We respond to every request within 3 business days. If you do not hear from us within that time, please call 1-866-786-7327 as we may be experiencing technical difficulties. To whom does the Center provide training, TA, and event speaking?

The FASD Center for Excellence provides training, TA, and speaking at specific conferences or events to a wide variety of people, including persons with an FASD and members of their family, service providers, program and system administrators, government officials, and women in treatment.

Is the FASD Center for Excellence able to fulfill all requests for training, TA and event speaking?

Unfortunately, that is not possible at this time. However we do review, consider, and respond to all requests. If we are not able to fulfill the request, we will provide you with a list of alternative resources.

Will the training or TA be targeted to our needs?

Yes, we will tailor any training or TA to the specific needs of your group. The FASD Center for Excellence has moved to a more targeted approach to impact FASD prevention and treatment. In order to optimize the effects of training and TA, followup will be a necessary component of our approach.

How do I request these services?

To request training, TA, or an event speaker, you will need to complete and return the appropriate request form (above). A representative from the FASD Center for Excellence will contact you within three (3) working days. All requests to the FASD Center for Excellence need to be approved by an official at SAMHSA. If you do not receive a confirmation within three (3) working days that your form has been received, please contact us at fasdcenter1@ngc.com.

If we have identified a trainer with FASD knowledge in our area, will the FASD Center for Excellence pay for that person to conduct a training?

No. While the FASD Center for Excellence does not charge a fee to conduct an approved training, we are not able to pay for outside trainers.
