Opportunities for support are available for scientists at all levels who are working on research projects relevant to the biomedical sciences. Wellcome Trust also supports low- and middle-income country scientists working in public health or tropical medicine. Research projects can be based in the laboratory, the clinic or the field and may involve experimental or theoretical approaches. Where appropriate, applications are encouraged from candidates trained in disciplines outside the biomedical sciences who are applying their expertise to biomedical problems.
