Michael Wash has been leading transformational change in the information industry for over 15 years as a Chief Information Officer and a General Manager. With roots in engineering and technology, and a passion for applying technology to grow businesses in innovative ways, Mr. Wash has led businesses from small, venture and private-equity-backed enterprises, to large commercial companies, to government organizations, in transforming their solutions to best suit the needs of their markets.

Mr. Wash is currently the Chief Information Officer at National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). Prior to joining NARA in early 2011, he served as the Chief Information Officer at the U.S. Government Printing Office and provided principal guidance in the creation and development of technology designed to accelerate the transformation of the GPO into a 21st century information organization utilizing leading edge solutions to provide the highest quality government information services to the nation. There, he has successfully restructured the information technology and systems organization and launched the award winning Federal Digital System (www.fdsys.gov), a world-class information management system serving as the digital repository for authentic Federal government publications.

Mr. Wash has been in the technology industry for more than 25 years, holds multiple patents and was honored with the title of Inventor of the Year in 1996. Most of Mike’s career was at Eastman Kodak where he served as the Worldwide General Manager, Digital Photo Finishing Systems. In this capacity, he directed the company’s digital photo finishing equipment business, driving more than $2 billion in services revenue for Kodak’s consumer imaging division. He was responsible for developing the system to deliver Kodak Perfect Touch Processing for the consumer photo market in North America and Europe.

He also held positions at Colorado Memory Systems, Loveland, Colo., as director of engineering; and, as a founder, at ComByte, Inc., Fort Collins, Colorado, a company engaged in the development and manufacture of storage devices for the personal computer market, as Vice President of engineering.

Wash has a BSEE degree from Purdue University and holds 18 patents, one of which was awarded the National Inventor of the Year in 1996 by the Intellectual Properties Owners Association. In 2010, he was named a finalist for the Information Technology Executive of the Year at the 8th annual American Business Awards ceremony in New York City.
