We understand if you are a little confused about our new site .  This site was designed to allow our agency to gather feedback and start threaded discussions about ways we can help improve the US Postal Service.

If you are wondering what a blog is, you are not alone.  A common definition of a blog:

“A blog (a contraction of the term “Web log”) is a Web site, usually maintained by an individual, with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. ‘Blog’ can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.”

For our purpose the blog aspect of this website allows us to post an editorial with some background information, and then leave it open for comments from registered users.

A guide to the right column of the home page:

The user control panel is the place to go when you want to login or register.  If you are logged in, this section will allow you to logout, or visit your dashboard.

The dashboard allows you to customize your profile.

The search bar allows you to search the blog portion of the site. If the term you are searching for is mentioned in a post, the search tool should find the relevant post. It does not highlight the results, but you can easily find them with the shortcut CTRL + F on your keyboard.

The categories section is a way for you to easily access all the posts relating to a certain category. When an article is written, it is assigned a category. As the website grows and there are more posts, you will find this option useful to find information that may not be on the front page.

The archives section is another method to access older posts by the month. You may simply want to see what posts were written in October 2008, or you might know that a certain post was written in a certain month but it’s no longer on the front page. Clicking on the month will take you to a page with all the posts written for that particular month.

The external links section is simply a list of websites that we recommend visiting.

What is that icon at the top of the page? And what is an RSS Feed?

The icon is just the standard symbol for an RSS feed link.

An RSS feed makes it possible for people to keep up with web sites in an automated manner that can be piped into special programs or filtered displays. You subscribe to an RSS feed by clicking the link. Depending on your computer and programs you have installed, you may be presented with a few options.

Microsoft Outlook 2007 supports subscribing to RSS feeds and you can view these from within the program once you click the link on our page.

There are also several desktop-based RSS readers that you can download for free. When you subscribe to a feed, your program will automatically be notified whenever new comments or posts appear on our website. You can also subscribe to individual discussions from within the forums. This process is done automatically and we do not need your email address or any personal information.
