    HHS University

The Presidential Management Fellows program was established in 1977 to attract outstanding individuals from a variety of academic disciplines who have a clear interest in, and commitment to, excellence in the leadership and management of public policies and programs. This two-year program has helped agencies meet their workforce and succession planning needs by attracting masters, law, and doctoral students to federal service.

    • HHS has hired over 1,000 PMFs since the program was established.
    • HHS averages 60 PMF hires annually.
    • Many managers have met their hiring needs through the PMF program.
    • Coordinators in each Operating Division handle recruitment of PMFs.
    • HHS offers training, rotational assignments, and professional development.
