I received the following email & was surprised that only 29 people had given input in this important discussion where the results go from Cornell University directly to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration so they can review public opinion on limiting the use of wireless communication devices. YOU can still review the summary & SUGGEST changes before midnight, Friday, 4/30/10! Don't let your say in making federal policy slip by you!!

The Regulation Room team (http://regulationroom.org/) thanks you for being part of the public discussion of the commercial motor vehicle operator texting ban rule proposed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA): Limiting the Use of Wireless Communication Devices. During the period from March 31 – April 24, users posted 29 comments.

A summary of all the discussion has been prepared by the RegRoom team and is available here:
http://regulationroom.org/texting/draft-summary-building/. We invite you to review the draft summary, and suggest additions or changes to make it better. You can do this until midnight, Friday, April 30. At that time, all discussion on the site will close to allow the team to review suggestions and prepare the Final Summary.

On Monday, May 3 (the close of the official comment period), the Final Summary will be posted on Regulation Room and will be submitted to FMCSA through Regulations.gov as a formal comment in the rulemaking.

Regards, The Cornell e-Rulemaking Initiative Research Team

It is of critical importance that more of the important stars, especially the younger ones and more large corporations are getting behind the idea that it is unsafe to drive and talk on a cell phone or text. It is especiaaly important that younger stars are getting more interested in this because they are the ones that many teenagers and young adults look up to. I'm glad this movement is catching on nationwide, even in some places where I thought last year it would not have stood a chance. No question, it will save many lives and reduce serious injuries and property damage. Best wishes, Michael E. Bailey.

It's great to see progress being made. Here in Texas, one can't call or text in a school zone, but that's about it. I'd love to see all texting while driving eradicated.

Good campaign, keep on doing it.
