Federal Government Grants

Federal grants are not the same things as benefit programs for individuals, such as Social Security disability benefits or help with money to buy food. For information about benefits programs for individuals, visit https://www.disability.gov/home/i_want_to/disability_benefits.

Grants are also not loans - they do not have to be paid back like student loans.  Grants are awards of financial assistance from a federal agency to an organization, state or local government agency or an individual for a particular purpose - very often related to research or implementation of programs related to education, community development, energy, science and technology.
