Leila Saldanha, Ph.D., R.D., Scientific Consultant (contractor)

Leila Saldanha joined the Office of Dietary Supplements as a Scientific Consultant in 2003. Since joining the Office she has played an active role in a number of projects, which have included co-editing nine issues of the Annual Bibliography of Significant Advances in Dietary Supplement Research between 2000 and 2008; facilitating the development of dietary supplement composition databases; and the development of analytic methods through the Analytical Methods and Reference Materials Program. She has worked on a cross-agency effort to develop approaches to assessing the health effects of bioactive food components and played a lead role in the development of the vitamins, elements, and nutrient biomarkers analytical methodology workshop agendas, as well as scientific sessions at professional and dietary supplement trade conferences. She has authored and coauthored several publications with Office staff.

Leila received her master's and doctoral degrees from Kansas State University and her undergraduate degrees from the University of Bombay, India.
