Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

Attention all Truck Drivers Who Enter Ports!

Sample TWIC ID Badge

If you access a secure area of a port or vessel as part of your job, you must have a Transportation Worker Identification Credential card (TWIC). Individuals who meet TWIC eligibility requirements will be issued a tamper-resistant credential containing the worker's biometric (fingerprint template) allowing for a positive link between the card and the individual. All personnel, including truck drivers, will be required to possess a TWIC by the compliance date set for their specific Captain of the Port (COTP) zone. (The Coast Guard is establishing temporary security zones of 200 yards around all tank vessels greater than 20,000 deadweight tons [DWT]). For more information please visit www.tsa.gov\twic.

Deadline

New England's Port Compliance Deadline for commercial truck drivers to have a TWIC card is October 15, 2008.

All mandatory compliance dates may be found at http://www.tsa.gov/what_we_do/layers/twic/twic_faqs.shtm#required_twic_date.
