William A. Rowe

Deputy to the Chief of Staff and Liaison to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation

William A. Rowe was appointed Deputy to the Chief of Staff in the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and the Comptroller’s Liaison to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in 2006.

As Deputy to the Chief of Staff, Mr. Rowe has broad operational, administrative, and project responsibilities. He represents the Chief of Staff on agency committees involving planning, security, and technology.

As the Comptroller’s Liaison to the FDIC, Mr. Rowe provides support to the Comptroller in his role as a member of the FDIC’s board of directors by providing feedback and advice on major policies, rulemakings, and other items coming before the board.

Prior to this role, Mr. Rowe served as the Executive Assistant to the Senior Deputy Comptroller for Midsize and Community Bank Supervision from 2002 to 2006 and as the Executive Assistant to the Senior Deputy Comptroller Bank Supervision Operations from 1999 to 2002.

Mr. Rowe joined the OCC in 1992 after more than 12 years in private banking in commercial lending and management. He was commissioned as a National Bank Examiner in 1995 after becoming a Certified Public Accountant in 1994.

Mr. Rowe is a graduate of Towson University and holds an MBA in finance from Loyola College in Maryland.
