What do you know about media literacy?

Today’s youth are flooded with media messages while at the same time they are building their own identities and values. These media messages may not always be as they appear to be. For this reason, it is important for young people to become media literate so that they learn to read between the lines and get the real meaning behind the messages.

What is media literacy? Media literacy is being able to analyze media messages, understand the intent of the messages, and judge how the information in the messages is used.

What is meant by media? Media includes channels such as TV, radio, the Internet, movies, videos, magazines, and newspapers through which messages are delivered. Sources such as advertisers, the entertainment industry, and news organizations often are referred to as media.
