Visa Services

Visa inquiries may be directed to the U.S. Department of State by emailing usvisa@state.gov.  Please indicate the subject of your inquiry in the subject line (e.g., student visa, visitor visa, worker visa, spouse visa, affidavit of support, etc.)  Information is also available to the public by telephone at the Visa Services, Public Inquiries Division at (202) 663-1225. The telephone number provides the caller with a selection of pre-recorded information and the ability to talk to a visa specialist during business hours. Persons desiring information about a specific visa applicant are advised that immigration law provides specific prohibitions about providing case specific information to third parties.

Specific questions about individual non-immigrant (visitor) visa, immigrant visa, diversity visa or adoption cases may also be directed to the U.S. Embassy Accra by email.  Please indicate the subject of your inquiry in the subject line student visa, visitor visa, worker visa, spouse visa, affidavit of support, etc.)  Contact email addresses are provided below.

American Citizen Services

Inquiries about U.S. passports, U.S. reports of birth abroad or emergency services (death, arrest, hospitalization) for U.S. citizens in Ghana may be directed to the American Citizen Services Unit by email to: ACSaccra@state.gov.

Telephone inquiries about American Citizen Services may be directed to the ACS Unit during business hours at telephone: 233-30-2741-570.

ACS personnel have no access to visa information and they are unable to assist in any way with pending visa cases.  Visa inquiries must be made in accordance with the procedures detailed under Visa Services above
