Board of Scientific Directors'
Responsibilities
Function
The Board of Scientific Directors
develops, reviews, and recommends policies affecting the intramural
research programs of the NIH to the DDIR. Recommendations may require
further approvals by higher level authorities, such as by the IC
Directors, Director, NIH, or HHS officials.
Composition
The voting members of the Board comprise the NIH
Scientific Directors and the Director, CBER, FDA. The chair of the
Board is the Deputy Director for Intramural Research (DDIR). The
Executive Secretary is the Executive Director, Office of Intramural
Research (OIR). Other invited attendees include: the NIH Deputy
Director; the NIH Deputy Director for Management; the Directors, OHR,
ORS, ORF, OEODM; the Deputy Director, FIC; the Director, LHNCBC/NLM
and staff members of the OIR.
Schedule
Meetings are regularly scheduled from 9:00 a.m.
to noon on the first and third Wednesdays of each month in Building
One, Conference Room 151, except as noted below.
- When five Wednesdays occur in the same month a
third meeting will be held on the fifth Wednesday unless otherwise
notified. The location may be different, depending on availability
of conference room space.
- During the months of July and August there
will be only one meeting each month. It will be on a Wednesday,
but not necessarily on a first or third Wednesday.
- No meeting will be scheduled that conflicts
with Federal holidays, NIH Research Festival or major religious
holidays.
Attendance
Scientific Directors, (including Acting S.D.s.),
are strongly urged to attend all meetings. They may send substitutes
to four meetings per calendar year. Substitutes, however, may not
vote. SDs must notify OIR (Dee
Andrews) if they will not attend and
designate an alternate.
Agenda
Suggested agenda items should be
brought to the attention of Dr. Richard Wyatt, M.D., Executive
Secretary, who may be reached on 496-4920. Any materials to be
included in the packages for distribution at the upcoming Scientific
Directors' meeting should be received one week in advance in Building
1, Room 154, 496-3891.
