Software Assurance Forum - March 2013

5-7 March, 2013 at NIST, 100 Bureau Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20899

The Software Assurance Program of the Department of Homeland Security'sOffi ce of Cybersecurity and Communications (CS&C) co-sponsors SwA Forums semi-annually with organizations in the Department of Defense and the National Institute for Standards and Technology. The purpose of the forums is to bring together members of government, industry, and academia with vested interests in software assurance to discuss and promote integrity, security, and reliability in software.

We provide a certificate of attendance for those interested in Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit for Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) or the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2. Please notify the registration desk when you arrive at the event, and complete the CPE log each day.

Your cost is FREE, but registration by COB  25 February 2012 is required in order to enter the NIST campus.  SwA Forum staff will not be at NIST gates to provide entry for non-registered individuals.

Driving Directions: FROM I270 traveling NORTH or SOUTH:

  • Bear right on I270 approaching exits 9A and B.
  • Exit I270 at exit 9B to Sam Eig Highway. 
  • Stay on Sam Eig Highway until you reach Great Seneca Highway (Route 119).
  • Turn right onto Great Seneca Highway.
  • Turn right at the first stoplight at Muddy Branch Road.
  • There are 2 NIST gates on Muddy Branch Road.  Proceed past the first gate on your left (Gate E) to the second gate on your left (Gate F).
  • Present your ID to the gate guard for admittance onto the NIST campus.
  • Drive straight ahead from Gate F  past the street labeled Medical Center on your left. 
  • Immediately after Medical Center, you will see a large parking lot on your left. NIST parking staff will direct you where to park in the lot.
  • Directly across from the parking lot is building 101, the location for the Software Assurance Forum.
  • There will be signage in the main lobby directing you to the Software Assurance Forum registration desk.

NIST Metro Shuttle Information

  • NIST provides shuttle service for official visitors and staff to and from the Shady Grove Metro Station from 6:45 am to 6:10 pm.
  • Visitors using Metro can meet the NIST shuttle at the east side of the Shady Grove Metro Station at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour. The shuttle runs daily from 6:45 am to 6:10 pm. The NIST shuttle will stop at "Bus Bay C." The last NIST shuttle leaves Shady Grove Metro at 6:10 pm.
  • The shuttle departs from the front of the NIST Administration Building at 5 and 35 minutes past the hour. The last NIST shuttle leaves NIST at 6:00 p.m.
  • The shuttle operates Monday through Friday except on federal holidays.
  • The ride between NIST and the Shady Grove Metro Station takes approximately 15 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

Here is the building 101 floorplan, with arrows from the main lobby to the registration.  Directions are:

  • Enter the main lobby of Building 101 from the parking lot.
  • Turn left immediately, and walk to the end of the "Hall of Flags" hallway.
  • The SwA Forum Registration Desk is at the end of the hallway.
