Healthy Marriage
There are at least two characteristics that all healthy marriages have in common.
First, they are mutually enriching, and second, both spouses have a deep respect for each other.
It is a mutually satisfying relationship that is beneficial to the husband, wife, and
children (if present). It is a relationship that is committed to ongoing growth, the use of
effective communication skills and the use of successful conflict management skills.

ASPE completed an implementation evaluation of the The Oklahoma Marriage Initative (OMI) in 2008.
OMI is the oldest running state marriage initiative in the United states.
Funded with state TANF block grant funds and other sources, this public/private partnership is dedicated to helping
couples gain access to services and supports to improve their marriage and relationship, with the ultimate goal of
increasing child well-being.
Other OMI research is available.
