Searchable Fields

All names are case-sensitive, meaning they must be entered in upper and lower case exactly as listed here.
The general format is FieldName:(search terms)
The required colon ':' character serves to separate the field name from the search terms.
Multiple search terms for a field should be surrounded by parentheses "()" and separated from one another with an appropriate operator. If an operator is not used, the AND operator will be used by default.
Tags will be converted to the matching Short Name.
All Date Fields have the format YYYY-MM-DD, such as 1990-03-21 for March 21, 1990
All fields are Metadata fields except for Document.
An asterisk "*" in the Tag column means there is no tag defined for that field.

Short Name	Tag	Description
Accession	AC	Accession Number. The item was part of an Accession. Useful for internal purposes. Not used for some collections.
Annotation	JLA	Annotation. Not used for some collections.
AnnotationDate	JLD	Date the annotation was last changed. For example, 2000-02-28 for an annotation changed February 28, 2000. Useful for internal purposes. Not used for some collections.
Box	BX	Box Number. The item is stored in this box number. Not used for some collections.
CollectionID	CID	Unique identifier associated with a collection.
Condition	PH	Physical condition of the original item.
Contributor	CN	Contributor. Would include Editor, Illustrator, Sponsor, etc.
Correspondent	*	Author or recipient of a piece of correspondence.
Creator	AU	Author or Creator.
Date	DP	Date of original item. For example, 1997-03-23 for a letter written March 23, 1997.
Description	DS	Description of an item.
Document	*	The item's full text content. Not part of metadata.
Folder	F00	Folder name. Name of the folder containing the item.
Format	FR	Format. MIME-type.
Identifier	UI	Unique Identifier. Usually the item's Profiles in Science unique identifier, but sometimes imported from another database.
ID	ID	Profiles in Science unique identifier. Subset of UI.
Language	LA	Language. For example, English. Or "not applicable".
Mesh	*	NLM Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) term(s).
Metadata	*	An aggregate of metadata fields. This allows multiple metadata fields to be searched at once.
OriginalFile	FL	Original file name. If the original file was electronic, full path and file name. Not used for some collections.
Pages	*	Number of pages in an item.
Publisher	PB	Publisher of original item.
QCFinalDate	QC	Date on which quality control was complete. For example, 1997-11-17. Useful for internal purposes.
Recipient	RC	Recipient. Useful for correspondence.
Relation	RL	Relation. Usually the internal unique identifiers of related items.
Rights	RG	Rights. Useful for identifying public domain items. Usually contains "Courtesy of..."
Series	S00...S15	Series or subSeries
Source	SO	Source of original item. Useful for published items. Would contain source information such as book title, editor, ISBN, etc.
Subject	SB	Subject. Usually reserved for controlled vocabularies. Not used for some collections. Try searching Title, Description, or OCR text in Document Body.
Title	TI	Title of the item. Sometimes inferred.
Transcript	*	Transcript of an item. Particularly useful for handwritten items.
Type	PT	Type. Art and Architecture Thesaurus (AAT) document type such as "articles".
