FACES AND PLACES is a two-part interactive activity inspired by the National Gallery’s extensive collection of American naive artists, a gift to the nation from Edgar William and Bernice Chrysler Garbisch. Elements from more than 100 paintings have been included in these presentations. Using these two programs, young artists can create portraits, landscapes, or genre scenes of daily life.
To print, click the PRINTER button at the top right of the interactive screen. RECOMMENDED BROWSERS: Macintosh users running OS 10.6 Snow Leopard should open Safari in 32-bit mode for full Shockwave compatibility. Here's how. Firefox works well in 10.6, but it has some incompatibilities in OS 10.5 Leopard that may cause pieces of the interactive to "disappear" from view. If that happens while you're creating a portrait or a landscape, just resize the browser window by dragging the bottom right corner to refresh the screen.
On a PC, use Internet Explorer or the latest version of Firefox.
