Biography

Ms. Babkirk is a Cancer Research Training Award (CRTA) Fellow through NCI's Health Communication Internship Program. She assists EGRP's Communications Coordinator with the development and dissemination of information related to the Epidemiology and Genomics Research Program's scientific priorities and initiatives.

During her graduate program, Ms. Babkirk worked for the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) as a Research Assistant in the School of Public Health, an Internship Advisor for undergraduate students, and a Teaching Assistant for an introductory course on health behavior. Ms. Babkirk was also a student leader for the Global Health Resource Center, an online initiative to promote student opportunities in global health at UMCP.

Previously, Ms. Babkirk was an Infectious Disease Prevention Intern for the National Association of County & City Health Officials. Her work included analyzing the results of a survey on local health departments' use of Web 2.0 and identifying health tools and curricula for an online resource center. She also worked previously as an Online Editor for The Motley Fool in Alexandria, Virginia and as an Assistant Production Editor for Rowman & Littlefield Publishers in Lanham, Maryland.
