Mary Frances Picciano, Ph.D.

The Dietary Supplement Research Practicum is named for Mary Frances Picciano, who was a Senior Nutrition Research Scientist at the Office of Dietary Supplements from 2001 until her death in August 2010 after a long battle with cancer. Dr. Picciano led the creation and development of this practicum, which was first conducted in May 2007. She was especially proud of the way it has grown, evolved, and attracts more applicants every year. The practicum is a highly regarded, annually offered educational opportunity for academicians and students on all aspects of dietary supplements, from research to regulation.
