Evaluation
Evaluation
The Office of Program Evaluation and Performance (OPEP) serves as the hub of a broad evaluation community at the NIH, which consists of Planning and Evaluation officers from across the NIH’s Institutes and Centers (ICs) and OD offices. OPEP’s mission is to support NIH program evaluations to improve program efficiency and effectiveness. As a part of this mission, OPEP:
- Administers the NIH Evaluation Set-Aside (ESA) Program
- Provides technical support to ESA applicants
- Coordinates peer review of evaluation applications through two trans-NIH committees
- Reports evaluation results to HHS
This website includes guidance to apply for ESA funds, information about post award-requirements, and links to an array of evaluation-related resources. OPEP also coordinates regular meetings of the Evaluation Special Interests Group, through which the NIH evaluation community stays informed and connected.
