The papers of Alexander Sankey Latty span the years 1851-1890 and consist of correspondence, printed material, and photographs chiefly from the years Latty served as judge of the Court of Common Pleas in Paulding County, Ohio, and as publisher of the Paulding Democrat. Subjects include the abolitionist movement, Ohio state and national politics, the Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854, formation of the Republican Party, and the Civil War.
