Soldier Resources

Recent events have demonstrated the crucial role the Army National Guard plays when called upon by our nation during times of need. We have responded - we are there.

The reason for our success is clear, the people of our Guard family. The Army National Guard is a collection of people from every state, territory and the District of Columbia. Our soldiers have personal lives to lead, families to support and careers to pursue in the civilian sector.

In addition, we not only ask our service members to be available for regularly scheduled duty, but also to support an increased operational tempo. Soldiers are our most precious resource. They need our assistance to balance their personal, professional and military lives. This section provides useful information for our Army National Guard Soldiers and Family.

Vision
To become the central resource for States, Soldiers and their families in providing responsive, innovative Soldier Support.

Mission
Partner with States, as well as internal and external agencies, to develop and deliver responsive, quality support services for Soldiers.

Read about what is going on with your National Guard in GX Magazine.

The Army National Guard has many programs and benefits you don't want to miss. Go to STRENGTH MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM to see what is available.

Retirement Services
Army National Guard programs assist retired Soldiers and dependents in processing through their retirement and accessing their retirement benefits. For example, we have developed a program of mandatory pre-retirement briefings for Soldiers and spouses in all states one year prior to reaching their 20th year of service.

Hot Topics

Throughout history, our nation's veterans have trained for combat. Many of you served on the front lines and many served in critical support roles. All of you served with distinction and deserve to be compensated for your sacrifices for our country.

Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC) provides tax-free monthly payments to eligible retired veterans with combat-related injuries. With CRSC you can receive an amount equal to or less than your length of service retirement pay and your VA disability compensation, if the injury is combat-related.

Traumatic Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (TSGLI)helps severely injured Soldiers through their time of need with a one-time payment. The amount varies depending on the injury, but it could be the difference that allows their family to be with them during recovery; helps them with unforeseen expenses; or gives them a financial head start on life after recovery.

TSGLI is an insurance program. It is bundled with Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (SGLI) and an additional $1 has been added to the Soldier's SGLI premium to  cover TSGLI.

TSGLI is not meant to serve as an ongoing income replacement like some types of insurance-it's there to help the Soldier through the tough times that occur as the result of a traumatic injury.
