    Inclement Weather

    HHS University

In the event of inclement weather, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) may announce federal government office closures or delays, or put an unscheduled leave policy in effect. The status of your class could be affected as follows:

    • If the federal government is closed, classes are cancelled and will be rescheduled. (For multi-day classes, subsequent sessions will be held as scheduled unless they are also affected by government closure.)

    • If the federal government is open under delayed arrival of two hours or more:
      • Classes that are more than one day long will start late by the same amount of time as the delayed arrival and you are expected to attend. If you do not attend, you will be counted as a "no show," and your agency will be charged for the class.
      • Classes that are one day or shorter are cancelled and will be rescheduled.

    • If the federal government is open under delayed arrival of less than two hours, classes will start late by the same amount of time as the delayed arrival, and you are expected to attend. If you do not attend, you will be counted as a "no show," and your agency will be charged for the class.

    • If the federal government announces an unscheduled leave policy, all classes will be held as scheduled, and you are expected to attend. If you do not attend, you will be counted as a "no show," and your agency will be charged for the class.

    • For cancellations in the metropolitan D.C. area, there will be a recorded message at 301-451-6810.
