    Reassign Invention Reports


Reassigning an invention report from one iEdison user to another

  1. Search for and select the account you want to modify as described in Search Accounts.
  2. In the result set for the desired account, click Reassign Invention Report. The Reassign Invention Reports - Invention Reports Assigned to: <username> page opens.
    Note: If the selected user has no assigned invention reports, the system returns a notification message indicating that no records could be found.
  3. In the result set for the desired invention reports, select the user the invention report should now be assigned to from the Reassign To list.
  4. Click Reassign Invention Reports to reassign the selected invention reports. The Reassign Invention Reports - Reassign Invention Reports Verification page opens

    OR

    Click Cancel, to cancel the reassignment. The Modify Account - Results for Modify Account Search page is redisplayed.
  5. Click Submit to accept the information as it is displayed on the verification page. The Reassign Invention Reports - Reassign Invention Reports Confirmation page is displayed confirming the reassignments were saved to the database.
    Note: The account owner will receive an e-mail notification informing them of the change

    OR

    Click Modify Reassignments to return to the previous screen and modify the reassignment information

    OR

    Click Cancel, to cancel the reassignment. The Modify Account - Results for Modify Account Search page is redisplayed.

  Field Definitions
Invention Title

The invention title reflects the title of the invention as it appears in the grantee or contractor organization's Invention Report.

Invention Docket Number

The Invention Docket Number field is provided for the convenience of iEdison users as a unique identifier to keep track of the associated Invention Report. Any combination of numbers and letters may be used to define the invention docket number. If an invention docket number is not provided, the iEdison system sets the value equal to the last six digits of the Invention Report number.

Inventors

The inventor fields reflect the full name of each inventor associated with the invention. Any combination of upper and lower case letters may be used. The iEdison system allows up to 12 inventors to be associated with each Invention Report.

Primary Agency

The primary agency is the federal agency that provided the greatest contribution to the invention, as initially determined by the grantee or contractor organization. The grantee or contractor organization is obligated to correspond with the primary agency regarding any issues that pertain to the disposition of invention rights. If more that one agency has contributed to the subject invention, all participation should be reported under the funding agreements section of the Invention Report.

Below is a list of the iEdison agencies that may be identified as the primary agency in relation to an Invention Report. Select the most appropriate acronym from the list.

Invention Report Number

The Invention Report number is automatically generated by the iEdison system for a new Invention Report when the data has been submitted, checked for errors, and verified. Once the Invention Report has been created, the Invention Report number cannot be modified by the organization. Reference should be made to the Invention Report number in all correspondence with the awarding agency.

Reassign to

The Reassign To field lists users from the grantee or contractor organization that are available to be reassigned the administration of the Invention Report.
