    Update Account Information


Update Your User Profile
Updating your own account information in the iEdison system.

  1. Select Main Menu | Update Your User Profile to access the Modify Account - Update Account Information page.
  2. Enter the account information, noting the following:
    • Fields with an asterisk (*) are required.
    • Address information is not required. However, if you supply one field, all fields with a carat (^) are required.
  3. Click Submit to enter the information. The Modify Account - Update Account Information Confirmation page opens.
  4. To cancel the modification, click Cancel. The Main Menu page is displayed.

Update Account Information
Updating the account information for a selected iEdison account.

  1. Search for the account you want to modify as described in Search Accounts.
  2. In the result set for the desired account, click Update Account. The Modify Account - Update Account Information page opens.
  3. Enter the account information, noting the following:
    • Fields with an asterisk (*) are required.
    • Address information is not required. However, if you supply one field, all fields with a carat (^) are required.
  4. Click Submit to enter the information. The Modify Account - Update Account Information Confirmation page opens.
    Note: The account owner will receive an e-mail notification of the change.

    OR

    Click Cancel, to cancel the modification. The Modify Account - Results for Modify Account Search page is redisplayed.
  Field Definitions
Username
(6-20 characters)

The username requested for the account. The username must be between 6 and 20 characters and may be any combination of letters and numbers. The username must be unique within the iEdison system. If the username requested already occurs in the iEdison system, a different username will be required.

Note: The username is case sensitive. Any capital letters in the username will have to be entered by the account user when logging in to the iEdison system.

Account Type

The account type requested for the associated account.Select the appropriate account type from the list.

Agency (Agency iEdison) - The Agency iEdison account type is the Agency iEdison Specialist, an iEdison staff member at a Federal agency other than the NIH. This user may view invention reports and supplementary information submitted to a particular Federal agency.

Extramural Inventor (Inventor) - The Inventor account type typically has received an inventor waiver or third-party waiver, and may submit patent filings and utilization reports related to an invention, but may not submit new invention disclosures.

GMS/CMS (Grants/Contracts Management) - The Grants/Contracts Management account type provides administrative oversight of grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements at the NIH. This user may view invention reports submitted to a particular Institute or Center.

IDO (Patent Counsel) - The IDO account type is an Invention Reports Specialist, often a patent counsel staff member an iEdison Federal agency. This user may create and modify invention reports, patents, utilization reports, and waivers, and may verify receipt of confirmatory licenses and government support clauses.

Intramural OTT/TDCB - The Intramural OTT/TDCB account type is an OTT/TDCB Specialist, part of the NIH Offices of Technology Transfer or Contracts offices that deals with technology development and commercialization may view extramural inventions where NIH has an interest in the technology; e.g., the grantee or contractor has requested a waiver

NIH (iEdison Accounts Administrator) - The iEdison Accounts Administrator account type is an expert user of the system. This user supports other iEdison users in the areas of registration, account administration, grantee/contractor organization maintenance, and system administration.

OTT (Office of Technology Transfer) - The Office of Technology Transfer account type supports the Office of Technology Transfer/Licensing or Office of Research and Development at the extramural organization. This user may submit invention disclosures, patent filings, and utilization reports, and request waivers.

PO (Program Office) - The Program Office account type provides technical oversight of grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements within the NIH. This user may view invention reports submitted to a specific Institute or Center.

PPE (Program, Planning, and Evaluation) - The Program, Planning, and Evaluation account type evaluates commercialization resulting from funding agreements, or is involved in legislative planning and preparing reports for Congressional budget hearings. This user may view utilization data specific to a particular Institute or Center at the NIH.

User Type

The user type requested for the associated account. The user type indicates the level of authority granted to the user. Select the appropriate user type from the list.

User - A user is granted privileges according to a particular account type (see account type above).

Administrator - An administrator is granted the same privileges as the "user" account type, plus the ability to create and maintain user accounts and, in some cases, the ability to maintain the organization's information.

NIH Institute or Center

The primary NIH institute or center associated with the account.

Note: This field is valid only for NIH accounts.

Agency

The agency associated with the account.

Note: This field is valid only for agency accounts.

Prefix
(e.g. Dr., Ms., Rev.)

The prefix to the name of the individual associated with the account.

First Name

The first name of the individual associated with the account.

Middle Name

The middle name or initial of the individual associated with the account.

Last Name

The last name of the individual associated with the account.

Suffix
(e.g. Jr., Nobel)

Any suffix to the name of the individual associated with the account.

Title

The title of the individual associated with the account.

Address
[Address information not required, however, if you do supply one, all fields with a ^ are required]

The address associated with the account. The address is composed of four street address lines, city, state, zip, and country.

Note: Address information is not required. However, if any address information is supplied, all fields with a ^ next to them become required. This includes: Address Line 1, City, State, Zip, and Country.

E-mail Address

The e-mail address of the individual associated with the account.

The format for this field is test@test.com.

Phone

The phone number associated with the account.

The format of this field is: (123) 456-7890 in countries using the North American Numbering Plan, including the U.S., Canada, and most of the Caribbean. Other countries use the country code, followed by the city code and number (e.g., +44 023422).

Ext

The phone number extension associated with the account.

Fax

The fax number associated with the account.

The format of this field is: (123) 456-7890 in countries using the North American Numbering Plan, including the U.S., Canada, and most of the Caribbean. Other countries use the country code, followed by the city code and number (e.g., +44 023422).
