DCHI staff members get communities involved and respond to community concerns about hazardous substances and chemicals in the environment. DCHI produces several types of reports that analyze available environmental data to determine any possible harm to the public's health.

If the data show a possibility for any health effects, DCHI recommends actions to reduce or eliminate hazards. Federal agencies such as U.S. EPA and also state and local health agencies use DCHI reports to develop their responses to public health challenges.
