World Data Service

NGDC operates a collocated World Service for Geophysics. To learn more, visit the scientific disciplines:

The World Data System is operated by the International Council for Science (ICSU).

International Bathymetric Mapping Programs & Projects

NGDC operates the:

• International Hydrographic Office Data Center for Digital Bathymetry (IHO DCDB)

and is active in multiple international bathymetric mapping projects:

• General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans (GEBCO) Program
  
  
• Regional ocean mapping projects
  
  
• Great Lakes Bathymetric Data Rescue Program

GEBCO and the regional bathymetric mapping projects above are sponsored by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) and the IHO.

The Great Lakes data rescue program is a collaboration between NGDC, the Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS), and NOAA's GLERL and NOS.

International Geomagnetic Programs and Projects

NGDC participates in, and distributes data from the:

• International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF) Version 9 & 10 Projects
  
  
• International Geomagnetic Observatory Data Exchange Format Project
  
  
• World Digital Anomaly Map Project

The above are programs and projects of the International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy (IAGA).

Solar-Terrestrial Energy Program (STEP)

NGDC participates in, and distributes data from the:

• Solar-Terrestrial Energy Program (STEP) Project 6.4
  
  
• STEP Results, Applications, and Modeling Phase (S-RAMP).

STEP 6.4 and S-RAMP are programs of the Scientific Committee on Solar-Terrestrial Physics (SCOSTEP).
