Survivor Services

Through a cooperative effort with Parent Services, Veteran Service Organizations, Casualty and Mortuary Affairs Operations Center (CMAOC), Casualty Assistance Centers (CAC’s) and Communities, the Army National Guard provides ongoing support to Soldiers and Families through Military Funeral Honors, Casualty Assistance and Survivor Outreach Services.

Supporting Guard Families
Recent events have demonstrated the crucial role the Army National Guard plays when called upon by our nation during times of need. We have responded -- we are there.

The reason for our success is clear -- the people of our Guard family. It is a collection of people from every state, territory and the District of Columbia. These soldiers have personal lives to lead, families to support and careers to pursue in the civilian sector.

In addition, we not only ask our service members to be available for regularly scheduled duty, but also to support an increased operational tempo. Soldiers are our most precious resource. They need our assistance to balance their personal, professional and military lives. This section provides useful information for our Army National Guard Soldiers and Family.

Mission
Provide benefits and services to surviving families to ensure that they feel part of the Army National Guard Family.  These benefits and services will be provided for as long as the family desires.

Survivor Outreach Services
The Army National Guard provides Survivor Outreach Services to surviving Family members.  The Survivor Outreach Program advocates for Survivors, assess their needs, recommend solutions and propose policy and legislative changes.  The Survivor Outreach Program ensures surviving Families feel they belong to the Army Family for as long as they desire, help them foster survivor resiliency and ensure they have access to all entitled benefits.  The Outreach Program models the reciprocal partnership between the Army and the Surviving Families as evidence of fulfillment of the Army Family Covenant.
