General Questions

What is Pay.gov?

Pay.gov is a web-based application allowing you to fill out and submit forms online as well as make online payments to government agencies by credit card or by debit from your checking or savings account.

How do I access Pay.gov?

The web address is https://www.pay.gov. Navigate to the proper OCC form as follows: In the "Find Public Forms" / "Search Public Forms" section on the left-hand menu of the page, type OCC and click "Go". The OCC Conferences and OCC Sponsored Schools links will appear. Select the desired form and then submit the information according to the Pay.gov instructions.

What web browsers can I use to access Pay.gov?

Pay.gov supports the following web browsers:

  • Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 2 or higher, 6.0, and 7.0
  • Mozilla 1.4 and 1.75
  • Firefox 1.5 or higher
  • Safari 1.2 (MAC OS X users)

Is Pay.gov secure?

Yes. Pay.gov uses 128-bit SSL encryption to protect your transaction information.

Do I need to create a Pay.gov account/username?

No. Pay.gov only requires basic address and account information to complete your transaction.

 

Payment Questions

What is the payment processing schedule for Pay.gov?

The Pay.gov site is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for users to submit payments; with the exception of a maintenance window every Sunday from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. Eastern Time. Automated Clearing House (ACH) and credit card payment processing follow the Federal Reserve schedule; payments will not settle on federal holidays, but on the following business day.

How do I know my payment was successful?

Upon submitting your payment, you will be directed to a confirmation screen indicating your payment was successful. This confirmation screen serves as your receipt and should be printed for your records. A copy of this receipt will also be delivered to your e-mail account, if you provided an e-mail address along with your credit card or bank account information.

What do I do after I have processed the wrong payment amount?

For corrections and refunds, please contact Financial Management at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency at 1 (866) 874-5150.

How do I cancel a payment?

ACH Payments

What is an "ACH" payment?

ACH stands for "Automated Clearing House" and refers to an electronic debit from a checking or savings account, commonly known as a direct debit or e-check payment. This option is available for U.S. accounts only.

How quickly is my ACH payment processed?

ACH payments will settle in your account the following business day.

How will the transaction appear on my bank or credit card statement?

Pay.gov transactions usually appear on your statement with the description "PAYMENT" and "OCCOFFCOMPTROLLXXXXX4403 DC" in the text. Please contact your financial institution if you need help identifying a payment on your statement.

 

Credit Card Payments

What credit card types are accepted?

Pay.gov accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and Diner's Club cards. Currently, credit card payment option is the only option available to both international and U.S. customers.

How quickly is my credit card payment processed?

Credit card payments will settle in your account the following business day.
