COOKING PSA—Winter Fire Safety Campaign, November, 2011 Did you know that cooking fires are the number one cause of home fires in America? They also cause painful burns. A serious fire can start in just seconds, but you can prevent fires and burns by being alert when you cook. When frying food or cooking on-top the stove; stay in the kitchen. Remember that loose clothing can catch fire if it touches the flames or electric burners. Keep towels and pot holders away from the stove top too. Make sure the oven, burners, and appliances are off when you are finished cooking. And, never use the range or oven to heat your home. This message is brought to you by the United States Fire Administration, your local fire department, and this radio station.
