NIDCD Lab Opportunities

The NIDCD's Audiology Unit offers clinical and research mentorship opportunities for those who are interested in the medical and/or genetic aspects of audiology, as well as those who may have an interest in eventually pursuing a Ph.D. or a career in research. Information regarding application for these programs is located here.

Collaborative Opportunities

The Division of Intramural Research has two collaborations with local graduate schools for students to obtain research experience in NIDCD laboratories:

Purpose of collaboration

  • To foster research and training in hearing and communication sciences.

  • To enable students to obtain research training in NIDCD laboratories and conduct their dissertation research here.

  • To support intramural scientists being members of thesis committees, assisting in teaching courses, and having adjunct faculty appointments.

  • To foster collaborations between NIDCD and the two institutions.

Purpose of collaboration

  • To provide an opportunity for Howard University graduate students in the Departments of Microbiology, Physiology and Biophysics, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Genetics and Human Genetics, and Pharmacology to obtain research experience and/or conduct their dissertation research in NIDCD laboratories.

  • To provide an opportunity for Howard University faculty in these same Departments to participate in programs and research at NIH.

  • To provide an opportunity for NIDCD scientists to serve as adjunct faculty on admissions and dissertation committees at Howard University.
