U.S. National Ice Center

The U.S. National Ice Center Web Site is now Two Sites in One!

As part of NIC's strategic goal to align products and services, regular production of .pdf format charts will cease on 03 October 2012 with the exception of the Great Lakes. This will allow NIC to focus better on creating the best operational support products possible.

Access to archived .pdf charts will still be available on the NIC website.

Customers requiring access to printed ice depiction charts can create them via the Products on Demand section of NIC's website. Using the Products on Demand website, customers can:

1) zoom to the region of interest

2) select a location on the chart

3) use right click the mouse button

4) and save the map as an image.

Please direct any questions or concerns to the Command Duty Officer via nic.cdo@noaa.gov.

The U.S. National Ice Center serves maritime interests around the world. As such, we have many customers on shipboard or at remote, isolated stations with only low-bandwidth satellite connections to the Internet.

To accommodate these customers, we have established a text-based Web site, utilizing very few images or other auxiliary files for site navigation. This will permit faster navigation to our product selection pages and faster selection of the products to be downloaded.

For customers with high-speed Internet connections, our full-featured site is still available. You can select either Web site below. The actual products available for download are exactly the same for either site.

Enter the full-featured pages. Enter the low bandwidth pages.
