How to use it?

Technology Regulations and Publications for Financial Institutions consists of two pages:
Technology Regulations and Technology Publications.

The documents are grouped by topic.  Within each topic, they are listed in reverse chronological order (latest first).  Documents may be listed under more than one topic heading.  The hyperlink shows the format of the document, e.g. HTML, TEXT.  Files marked PDF are Portable Document Format files. Adobe Acrobat, a reader available for free on the Internet, is required to display or print PDF files. This site's PDF file size ranges from 8Kb to 474Kb with the average size of about 20 to 30Kb. You may also request a printed copy of the document.

What’s in it?

The pages contain the following agency technology publications:

  • Technology RegulationsRegulations are posted to the chart as they are made available in the Federal Register.

  • Technology Publications:
    • FDIC financial institution letters. FILS provide guidance to insured institutions.
    • OCC advisory letters, alerts, and bulletins.   Advisory letters inform bankers and bank directors about activities and situations that could contribute to or detract from the safe and sound management of their banks. Alerts focus on suspicious transactions. Bulletins provide information of continuing concern on OCC or OCC-supported policies and guidelines, and inform readers of pending regulatory changes and other general information.
    • FRB Supervision and Regulation Letters.  SR Letters address significant policy and procedural matters related to the Federal Reserve System's supervisory responsibilities.
    • OTS CEO Memoranda and Regulatory Bulletins. CEO Memoranda inform regulated institutions and other interested parties of proposed legislation, final rulings, policy, and other regulatory developments. Regulatory Bulletins provide guidance to regulated institutions and regulatory personnel on policies, procedures, and matters of concern to the thrift industry.

What isn’t in it?

The pages do not include OCC interpretive letters on permissible electronic banking activities or NCUA technology regulations or publications.  These may be found at OCC Opinions & Letters and NCUA IS & Technology.  OTS application approvals concerning electronic banking activities also are not included in the chart, but may be found through a searchable listing of Director's Orders which includes application approval orders at www.ots.treas.gov.
