How to Request Official Signage from the FDIC

FDIC official teller signage is provided to financial institutions whose deposits are insured by the FDIC. The signs come as decals that can be affixed to hard surfaces and plastic counter signs.

The FDIC encourages all insured depository institutions to acquire and post the new official sign without delay to increase depositor awareness of the permanent increase in deposit insurance coverage.

You may order the decals and counter signs through the FDIC Online Catalog under "For Banks Only". Individuals placing orders will need to register to order through the catalog and will need to enter detailed information about the bank. All information will be verified by the FDIC.

The new signage will take between six to eight weeks for delivery and will be presented as it appears below; please note that the FDIC used black and Pantone 872 ink to print the signage.

Electronic Image

A downloadable version of the teller sign is available to bankers in a variety of electronic formats via FDICConnect https://www2.fdicconnect.gov/. You must be an authorized FDICConnect user to access the download.

You can also request an electronic image of the FDIC official teller sign by faxing your request using bank letterhead to the FDIC Graphic Design Unit at (703) 516-5045. Please include a point of contact, e-mail address and phone number. Requests for electronic images take between two and four days for delivery. The FDIC Graphic Design Unit can be contacted at (703) 516-1475.

As a final option, you may fax your request for decals and/or signs on bank letterhead to the FDIC Distribution Center at (703) 516-5201. Please include the number of signs you need; the type of sign; a point of contact; telephone number; email address; and a street address. We cannot send your order to a post office box. Faxed requests will take between six to eight weeks for delivery. If you have any questions, please contact the FDIC Toll Free number: 1-877-ASK-FDIC.

Advertising Clarification

The "symbol" of the Corporation can be used as the official advertising statement - instead of, e.g., "Member FDIC." The "symbol" of the Corporation is the "FDIC" part of the official sign plus the lines in smaller print above and below the "FDIC." So the left side of the official sign, with the semi-circle of stars and "Backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government," is not part of the "symbol." Since that part can simply be cropped off to make the "symbol," no new graphic is necessary. If the size of the "symbol" is reduced so that the lines in smaller print above and below the "FDIC" become illegible, those lines can be dropped, leaving just the "FDIC" as the symbol. All of this, of course, pertains to advertising - e.g., in newspapers and promotional material. When displaying the official sign at insured institutions - e.g., at teller windows - such modifications are not permissible.
