United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk traveled to California from September 8-9 to discuss ways that increased exports can help to create and sustain jobs in the state. Ambassador Kirk met with business and community leaders, local elected officials and workers. He highlighted President Obama’s National Export Initiative, as well as U.S. trade agreements and progress in negotiations for the Trans-Pacific Partnership. These agreements could increase exports and support well-paying jobs in California.

On Wednesday, Ambassador Kirk visited the Google campus, where was part of a panel discussion about jobs in the technology industry and intellectual property.

On Thursday, Ambassador Kirk traveled to Los Angeles where he meet with Congresswoman Diane Watson. Later, Ambassador Kirk held a roundtable discussion with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and local business owners.
