Several papers describing the meta-analysis used to obtain the prevalence data were published in a themed issue of the April 2004 Archives of Ophthalmology. This NEI-supported research provides an in-depth description of the data analysis regarding the prevalence of refractive errors (age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma) visual impairment among Whites, Blacks, and Hispanics.
