The Division of Computational Bioscience (DCB) of CIT is the research and development organization that provides scientific and technical expertise in applying state-of-the-art technologies to support the NIH Intramural Research Program (IRP). Working with NIH’s Institutes and Centers (ICs), we develop leading-edge computational methods and tools to solve complex biomedical laboratory and clinical research problems.  Our experts collaborate with intramural staff in multiple areas including:

  • Biomedical instrumentation and rapid prototyping
  • Clinical and laboratory imaging and image management
  • Communication and processing technologies
  • Computational statistics
  • Genomics and proteomics
  • High-performance computing
  • High-throughput sequence analysis
  • Human- and animal-based research systems
  • Knowledge based management systems
  • Mathematical and biophysical modeling
  • Medical and bioinformatics
  • Molecular modeling
  • Portfolio analysis
  • Robotics and process automation
  • Scientific visualization
  • Signal transduction, data acquisition and processing
  • Simulation of complex biological systems
  • Molecular dynamics of biological macromolecules
  • Molecular structure determination
  • Systems biology
  • Telecollaboration and telehealth systems

We also provide a supportive training or mentoring environment for scientists and engineers to develop their own expertise in collaborative biomedical research.
