Industrial Hygiene

The Division of Occupational Health and Safety (DOHS) identifies, evaluates and recommends controls of environmental factors arising in or from the NIH workplace in order to prevent occupational injuries and illnesses. Special competence is provided in the areas of microbiological safety, chemical safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, toxicology, and safety engineering. DOHS offers consultative and technical assistance to the NIH and the extramural research community on all matters regarding occupational health and safety in biomedical research.
