External link The Maternal Child Health Careers/RISE-UP Program [PDF | 278KB] Exit Disclaimer
The MCHC/RISE-UP Program is a 10-week summer program designed for undergraduates, as well as, recent baccalaureate degree students who are interested in learning more about preventing health disparities. The program begins May 27, 2013 and ends August 2, 2013.This program's ultimate goal is to promote a more diversified and equal health system by introducing highly qualified undergraduate students (juniors and, seniors with a GPA 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale, and students who received their baccalaureate degree within 12 months of MCHC/RISE-UP program orientation) from underrepresented groups to the field of public health. All students interested in addressing health disparities are encouraged to apply. The program kicks off with an orientation at KKI/Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore MD, the student then returns to their training site and the program closes with a visit and ceremony at the CDC in Atlanta, GA.

The deadline to apply is February 14, 2013.

Search the National Institutes of Health’s site for a variety of research and training programs designed for a student and post graduates. Some of the opportunities include loan repayment programs, summer internships, post baccalaureate research, graduate education programs, post doctoral training, clinical and research training programs.
External link Indian Health Service (IHS) Scholarship Program
The goal of these three interrelated scholarship programs is to train the professional health personnel necessary to staff I H S health programs serving the Indian people. Both full and part-time student opportunities are available. Eligibility information: Applicant must be an American Indian or Alaska Native.

Applications are processsed on a rolling basis.

Summer Residential Enrichment Program
Applications are being accepted for the Health Careers Opportunity Program paid Summer Residential Enrichment Program (SREP). Housed at Urban Health and Diversity Programs of UIC School of Public Health, the SREP prepares disadvantaged undergraduate juniors and seniors and recent college graduates to pursue master's and doctoral degrees in public health. The SREP is a 10-week program.
Navy ROTC Offers Youth a Chance to Attend Historically Black Colleges
The Florida A&M University (FAMU) is soliciting your help in finding qualified minority candidates interested in attending FAMU or one of the other Historically Black College or Universities (Morehouse, Norfolk, Prairie View, Savannah State and Southern) on a Navy ROTC Scholarship.

The Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program is your passport to a unique and rewarding career experience with the Federal Government. It was established by the President through an Executive Order in 1977 to attract outstanding leaders from a variety of academic disciplines and career paths who have a clear interest in, and commitment to, excellence in the leadership and management of public policies and programs to Federal service. Deadline: Annual, October.
Psychiatry Research Fellowships, American Psychiatric Institute for Research and Education (APIRE)
The annual application deadline for research fellows is December 1 and for summer medical students is April 1.

Announcement of fellowships, specifically for ethnic minority psychiatrists who have completed their psychiatry residency and are searching for research fellowship opportunities.
