3 BSB - News

Lt. Col Townsend and CSM Townes with the troops

Ready to Roll means training……

Summer months in Georgia provide warm temperatures and opportunities for outdoor activities. However, increased temperatures present training challenges and leadership concerns. Active training outdoors, small arms ranges, and intense PT, can all test a Soldier’s mental and physical stamina. Strenuous activities can increase the likelihood of heat injuries. The addition of filled camel backs to the duty uniform affirms concerns throughout the chain of command and emphasizes the need to stay hydrated. 3rd BSB has had a very active schedule in these summer months that included the Raider Stakes STX competition, participation in the ARPT, and numerous company sponsored small arms qualifications. These extended days in the heat have re-enforced the need for every Solider to be physically fit

The end of July brought a well received Organizational Day. The 3rd BSB invited Soldiers and Families to come out enjoy food, cold drinks, and join in on many of the games and activities available. This included Putt-Putt, roller-skating, flag football, basketball, and a full play -ground to romp around on. A hail and farewell was also held for the new arrivals and old friends departing.

The Ready Battalion conducted a CPX in July to establish its field command structure and requirements in preparation for The Raider Brigade CPX in August. 3rd BSB is responsible for providing direct sustainment support to the 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team.
